Lucas Schifres is a 34-year-old freelance photographer with a decade-long experience in the industry. Lucas has spent the last six years of his career with Bloomberg News, successively first photographer in France and Chief Photographer for China. Lucas now covers stories in China and Asia for the world's leading magazines and newspapers such as Newsweek, International Herald Tribune, Boston Globe, Financial Times, Forbes, The Guardian, L'Express, Figaro Magazine.
In 2005, Lucas was the only photographer able to report on the working conditions in the Indian ship breaking yard where French aircraft carrier Clemenceau was to be dismantled. This scoop started a nation-wide controversy that forced French president Chirac to cancel the project in February 2006. In 2007, Lucas received a National Headliner Award for Feature Photography. The National Headliner Awards, among the most prestigious in journalism, were created in 1934. They honor excellence in print, TV, radio and online journalism. In love with China, Lucas lives in Shanghai and travels in the whole country. |
